How appropriate is the gay pride parade in San Fransisco for a teenager?

I'm 16 and I really want to go to the SF pride parade next year, my my mom's worried it's too inappropriate for a teenager. I know theres a lot of after- and before-parties but would I be ok for the actual parade?
